A few images from Prospect 1 in New Orleans. These were taken at the Old US Mint.

Commissioned Painting: Green Shoes
I recently completed a commissioned painting. Here's the process:
This is the sketch that I worked from.
This is the very faint drawing I did on paper - it's a multimedia paper stretched and gessoed onto a board. (click on it to see it better)
Early on - just trying to cover the whole surface area, as that is how we University of Memphis BFA's roll.
Finished painting. I'm quite happy with it. I think the art world at large should wholeheartedly embrace the cute factor.
The aftermath in my studio.

Artwork Dedication, Dishes and Jello
We had a dedication event yesterday for this incredible mosaic by Kristi Duckworth at White Station Middle School.
Then I gave Kristi some dishes. T and I recently got new dishes, and I found I was too attached to my old ones to put them in the garbage. I think it's because we've had them for the entire 17 years we've lived together, so they symbolize the domesticity we instantly found and have happily maintained for 17 years. Now those few chipped dishes will live for eternity in a mosaic!
Speaking of 17 years of happy domesticity, I came across a Jello version of the building T and I got married in by Liz Hickok.

Art Sunday
Yesterday I went to the open house at the Metal Museum, did a little bit of Christmas shopping, and saw the current show, Contemporary Cast Iron. This is by Michael Bonadio from Birmingham, AL.
Then I went to the P&H Artbazaar, organized by the Full-Smart Dwayne Butcher, and saw some of Lauren Rae Holtermann's Memphis Arts Trading Cards - go take a look - they are all fantastic! Here's the one of me.
It was taken from a picture that Click (Daily) took of me in my studio.

My Day
Visited Central High School to see about a public art project there. It's a beautiful old school with some lovely old features.
Got the new issue of Number Magazine.
Bought some paint.
